To quickly recap something worth watching that I mentioned earlier: the citizens of Memphis voted in March to disband the city school system, effectively forcing a merger with the surrounding suburban county system. The merger was opposed by Republicans in the state legislature and those representing suburban areas (which, as I quipped before the election, suggested that it was a good idea) and in fact the county sued to block it. But a Federal judge is allowing the merger to proceed, starting in 2013.
